Steve is a partner and project manager for Compass Commercial Development Services, LLC, a new division launched by Compass Commercial Real Estate at the beginning of 2010. He guides the Compass brokers and their clients through the development and construction process often associated with the buying and leasing of space. Providing this service in-house, allows our brokers(and their clients) to stay focused on their primary business, not the business of building and renovation.
Steve began his construction and development career at the age of 15 in the family building business. Working in the field installing underground utilities, grading industrial and residential lots, and paving subdivision streets gave Steve the hands-on knowledge necessary for the projects and opportunities that lay ahead.
Licensed in California for general building and general engineering, Steve headed the development of the 50 acre San Marcos Industrial Park, adjacent to California State University San Marcos. Steve oversaw a seven person architectural staaff and a construction field crew numbering up to 80, The firm also was involved in design-build industrial and office buildings throughout north San Diego County. A large part of Steve’s responsibility included the submittal and processing of projects and plans through the city and county government agencies having jurisdictions.
In 1989, Steve started Spectrum Contracting in Temecula, California. Focused primarily on projects for the partners of Spectrum, the company continued to provide design-build projects for others as well. Prior to moving to Bend in 1992, Steve completed a 100,000 square foot building including office improvements for Ace Van and Storage in San Diego.
Steve enjoys life in Bend with his wife of 35 years, Donna. They have two children, ages 29 and 32, and 1 grandchild.
