As office and industrial users had a need to modify existing spaces to suit downsizing requirements, we saw the opportunity to service that construction need quickly and efficiently, benefitting both the user and the property owner by creating manageable and leasable space. Since then, we have become a major Central Oregon construction company performing new construction, commercial tenant improvements and multi-family projects throughout Central Oregon.

What you’ll do:

  • Perform quantity take-offs.
  • Conduct site visits for accurate project cost estimation.
  • Assist Project Executive in the pricing and bidding of construction projects.
  • Develop and document logical assumptions during conceptual estimating activities and apply these assumptions to takeoff tasks.
  • Communicate with architects and consultants to clarify the scope of work, materials, and schedule requirements, and document these clarifications.
  • Collaborate with clients, vendors, and team members across departments to formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Conducts reviews of milestone documents for the development and pricing of value alternative opportunities.
  • Actively participates in the internal estimate review process.
  • Assist PM with the final assembly of the estimate for presentation to the owner.
  • After the bid, collect and organize all bid information for future reference.
  • Aids field operations with change order pricing if needed.
  • Directs, coordinates, and provides information and documents to subcontractors.
  • Prepares contractual exhibits for scope of work for subcontracts.
  • Participates in hard bid/estimating and GMP budgeting activities by soliciting subcontractor support and evaluating bids.
  • Builds relationships with subcontractors to obtain a competitive advantage for the company.
  • Attends industry events and represents the company to the industry in a professional capacity.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with internal company clients.
  • Keeps current with the latest estimating technology and techniques.
  • Demonstrates conceptual estimating skills by interpolating data.
  • Analyze blueprints, construction drawings, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Questions designs and assumptions and presents ideas to the Project Manager on the project.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field of study
  • 10+ years of direct estimating experience as a General Contractor working on large-scale ($20+ million) commercial projects.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction practices and procedures.
  • Superior organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Previous estimating experience with negotiated bids, hard bids, and CMP process.
  • Working knowledge of construction costs and principles.
  • Ability to read and understand specifications and drawings.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, estimating software and scheduling software.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to work effectively in a team and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to present information clearly and respond effectively to management, clients, and customers.

Skilled/Semi-skilled Construction Laborer

Compass Commercial Construction Services (CCCS) is actively looking to hire a full-time Semi-Skilled and Skilled Construction Laborer for our ever-growing diversified needs.

CCCS constructs tenant improvements, including general office, doctor, dentist, and other medical offices, as well as industrial and commercial improvements, including ground-up construction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The position will involve and include all aspects of interior tenant improvement construction and exterior building construction including:

  • Demolition
  • Framing
  • Siding
  • Door and frame installation
  • Finish carpentry, including client-specific finishes, concrete form, pour and finish, and site improvements
  • Tasks might also include operation of small equipment (man lifts, mini-excavator, compactor, etc.)

CCCS is looking for individuals that want to experience all of the construction processes. The individuals hired will receive training if no prior experience in a particular area exists.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid Oregon Drivers License
  • 3 years experience
  • Reliable transportation
