Compass Commercial Construction undertook a complete gut and rebuild for Juniper Mountain Counseling, transforming an old church facility into a large office complex suitable for a therapy center. The project involved extensive reconfiguration to create a functional and inviting space for staff and clients.
Key Project Highlights
- The second floor was added to what was the chapel area.
- The chapel became 16 new offices.
- A total of 21 new offices were built, along with two conference rooms and a reception area.
- A play corral was also added for kids.
Challenges
During the renovation, the construction team discovered two of the four 5-ton units were non-functional. The building’s as-built drawings showed the air conditioning units were insufficient for the new layout and they would need to add three more to work for the entire building. They also discovered it was not feasible to bring in more power to the building.
Solutions
The team added skylights to create more natural light in darker areas. New fireplaces were installed in the common area/break room and staff lounge, enhancing comfort. Power was reworked throughout the building, ensuring access to electrical outlets and systems without the need for additional power supply.
