Gene Piepenbrock

As Controller, Gene Piepenbrock oversees financial accounting and reporting for Compass Commercial, bringing more than 30 years of accounting and financial leadership experience to the company. His extensive background includes financial statement preparation and analysis, budgeting and forecasting, cash flow management, capital planning, account reconciliation, and oversight of accounting operations.

Prior to joining Compass Commercial, Gene held senior financial leadership positions with resorts, hospitality companies, and other organizations throughout Oregon, Arizona, California, and Washington. Most recently, he served as Director of Finance for Solage, Auberge Resorts Collection in Calistoga, California, and previously spent more than three years as Director of Finance at Tetherow Resort in Bend. At Tetherow, he directed financial operations across the resort’s lodging, vacation rentals, golf, membership, food and beverage, and catering operations while overseeing the accounting team.

Throughout his career, Gene has led accounting teams and financial operations for complex, multi-faceted organizations, including serving as Vice President of Accounting for Vensure Employer Services and in Director of Finance and Controller roles for several prominent resorts and hotels. His experience includes managing audits, improving financial reporting systems, developing capital plans, evaluating investments through ROI analysis, and overseeing payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable functions.
