BEND, OR – The Salvation Army, a California Corporation, sold their office building located at 755 NE 2nd Street in Bend to Oregon Beverage Recycling Cooperative (OBRC), a cooperative corporation owned and operated by Oregon beverage distributors. The new facility will become a fully-staffed, indoor BottleDrop Redemption Center where consumers can return deposit beverage containers.
Bruce Kemp, CCIM and Robert Raimondi, Broker with Compass Commercial represented the buyer and seller in the transaction that was valued at $540,000.00.
The site served as the administrative center for the Salvation Army for many years before they purchased and relocated to the former Living Purpose Church campus at 541 NE Dekalb Avenue in Bend. Kemp and Raimondi represented both parties in the abovementioned transaction as well.
“We toured a number of buildings with OBRC and they drilled down on this one due to the central location for the public returns,” said Raimondi. “In addition, the property offers generous on- site parking and a dock high door for convenient loading and transporting of materials to the nearby OBRC processing facility.”
OBRC is extensively renovating the building to house the first BottleDrop redemption center in Central Oregon. The new facility, approved by the Oregon Liquor Control Commission (OLCC), will provide redemption services for Oregon deposit beverage containers. The cooperative will allow up to 350 container returns per person per day at its staffed facility. The redemption center will be open seven days a week, 9am to 6pm daily.
OBRC currently has five redemption centers in operation around the state, the sixth to open in mid-November in Gresham, OR. OBRC plans for the Bend redemption center to be open before year end. For more information on BottleDrop, please visit www.bottledropcenters.com.
